Volunteer Opportunity: Digital Archives Volunteer
Help Preserve the Visual History of the Adrienne Arsht Center
The Adrienne Arsht Center is seeking a detail-oriented volunteer to assist with an important archival project that will help preserve and organize the Center's visual history for future generations.
The selected volunteer will support the migration of thousands of photographs and digital assets from Dropbox to our new Digital Asset Management (DAM) system, Canto. This work will play a key role in making the Center's historical and marketing photography collections easier to access, search, and utilize across the organization for years to come.
Responsibilities
- Assist with organizing and transferring digital photographs and media assets
- Review files and folders for accuracy and consistency
- Help maintain metadata and file naming conventions
- Support quality control efforts during the migration process
- Collaborate with Communications and Marketing staff on archival organization projects
- Contribute to the long-term preservation of the Adrienne Arsht Center's visual archives
Schedule
- Approximately 4 hours per week
- Volunteer may choose one day per week, Monday through Thursday, based on their availability
- Work will be completed on-site at the Adrienne Arsht Center
Commitment
The migration project is expected to continue for approximately six months. Ideally, we are seeking a volunteer who can participate throughout the duration of the project. However, we understand that schedules vary and welcome conversations with individuals who may be available for a shorter period.
Desired Skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Attention to detail
- Comfort working with digital files and folders
- Basic computer proficiency
- Interest in archives, photography, digital asset management, marketing, communications, or nonprofit arts organizations
Previous experience with Dropbox, digital asset management systems, photography collections, or archival work is helpful but not required.
Start Date
We hope to welcome a volunteer as early as next week. If that timeline is not feasible, a start date during the week of August 3 would also work well.
