Description

Don’t miss a captivating experience at the 20th edition of Siempre Flamenco's Festival de Cante Flamenco Miami! This mesmerizing and passionate production focuses on the art of flamenco singing, aka cante flamenco, which is rarely heard outside Spain. The soulful, gripping sounds of cante flamenco, rooted in Spain's medieval music, with Moorish, Gypsy and Jewish influences, promise to take you on an unforgettable journey. This year’s program will feature two of Spain’s most celebrated dancers, Rafael Campallo and Raquel Heredia, both performing at the festival for the first time. The festival will also feature acclaimed singers Mari Peña, Diego Amador Jr. and Javier Heredia and exceptional guitarists Jose Cortes Pansequito and Antonio Moya. Siempre Flamenco's founding members Paco and Celia Fonta will join the ensemble with their guitar-playing and dancing, respectively, and complete this terrific lineup of flamenco artists. Also joining the festival for the first time is young singer Diego Amador Jr., son of esteemed multi-instrumentalist Diego Amador. Like his father, he not only sings but plays guitar, percussion and piano. Flamenco critic Alejandra Pachon says, “Diego Amador Jr.'s powerful voice has captivated everyone. His wisdom and maturity are evident in his artistry.” Established flamenco critic Manuel Bohorquez writes of singer Mari Peña, “This flamenco singer from Utrera is one of my favorites in contemporary flamenco. Above all, because she doesn't try to be something she's not, and because she embodies humility. If you can, listen to her at a flamenco club, a festival or a private party. You'll feel a breath of Utrera's Gypsy spirit fill your soul.” Festival favorite Javier Heredia returns for the fifth time. Heredia is a festero, a rare character in flamenco—one who dances, sings and gets the excitement flowing. Renowned flamenco critic Estela Zatania says of Heredia: “The audience had the pleasure, harder and harder to enjoy these days, of seeing an authentic old-style festero. Javier Heredia is the youngest exponent of this endangered art form. The audience response is enthusiastic to say the least, leaving no doubt as to the universality of Javier’s message.” Don’t let this thrilling celebration pass you by. This is a lineup that flamenco lovers simply cannot afford to miss!
